Texas Nine-banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus)

The nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) is native to South America. In the process of its natural migration, its range slowly enlarged. By the late 1800′s, it could be found throughout central America, Mexico, and the Rio Grande valley of the United States. About this same time period, the armadillo was intentionally introduced by humans into Florida.
