Please don’t be discouraged to find you must log in and register before leaving a comment. When this website was first established, public comments were permitted without restriction. Before long hundreds of spam-generators were posting thousands of spam comments daily. The first line of defense against this abuse was to moderate all comments before allowing them to be posted for public viewing. When that did not reduce the traffic of spam comments, we were forced to require all who wish to comment to first register and log in. We prefer not to do that, but we had no choice.

Contributing viewers are requested to participate in making important additions, modifications, corrections, and adding commentary to this website. All contributions are edited for accuracy, relevance, and suitability prior to display in publicly accessible posts. We thank all who have contributed to this website in the past, and those who will contribute in the future.

Most don’t read the pages on BugsInTheNews or BudsInTheNews on a whim. More than likely, you are reading this and the page that linked you here because you have important questions, and you need answers. We hope we’re able to help you find some of the answers you need, but chances are some will remain unanswered, at least for the moment. Now it’s time for you to do your part: tell us what you need to know, and help us get the answers you seek. That’s what a VIEWER-PARTICIPANT WEBSITE is all about.

It means that you are the most important cog in our wheel! We depend on you to be our eyes, ears, and brains. When you find a bug, spider, snake, or animal, or if you see, hear, or read something that pertains to bugs, spiders, snakes, and wild animals, your next step should be to document what you find, using notes, recordings, photographs, and background information, and send it in.  We’ll format your material and post it so others can benefit from your experiences.

It also means that when you read or see something on BugsInThenews or BudsInTheNews that doesn’t comport with what you know to be true, your next step should be to send us your correction, along with an explanation why you believe the correction is appropriate. We need your inputs. It’s what keeps us straight, and enables others to have confidence in the information we post here.

Saw a story posted here about the buttermilk racer in the Tomball/Woodlands area. A couple of weeks ago, my neighbors and I saw a very impressive one – under their deck and later moving to our yard, on the ramp to our door. FYI, we live to the west of Magnolia.

I was reading about the puss caterpillar on your website and couldn’t find the range for the caterpillar. Can you let me know how far north they travel or are they only in the south. I did see someone in N.C. that reported one but still would love to know if they are something I should be on the lookout for. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
    Thanks,
    Connie
